Outfit Post: ZARA Furry front sweater

Hi all !
Continuing on the trend of the luxe sweater (as seen in previous blog post) here is my second (and definitely not the last) luxe sweater addition to my wardrobe. I have been waiting for it to get a bit cooler to break it out.
I got this as part of a collection of birthday gifts from Lorenzo. I loved it when I saw it and it reminded me of Victoria Beckham's pony haired versions. I am such a fan of the luxe sweater. I love the idea of taking a sports item, an item of comfort and something usually not classified as fashion and elevating it to an 'IT' status.Pairing a jumper with evening wear such as a heavily beaded, floor sweeping skirt or killer heels is so fresh, still, to me.
I am hoping it is a trend that sticks for a while, as I much prefer the undone vibe than anything heavily thought out or constructed.
Here I have paired the ZARA sweater with my ZARA trf faux leather skirt, knee suede boots from Sportsgirl, boxy bag from H&M and some cool rings I picked up in Primark on my trip to London.A slick of orange lippy, to match the pocket of my bag was final touch!

I am on the look out for my next statement sweater. Any suggestions?

That's all for now,
Love Dani xx

Fashion Tribes: Alexander McQueen Spring/Summer 2014

All photos taken from style.com

Hi all !
While preparing my long over due Spring/Summer Paris 2014 collection post, I was mesmerised by Sarah Burton's tribal collection for Alexander McQueen. I usually try to summarise each collection into three photos/looks, just to give you a taste of the major themes. However I decided that this collection was unsummarisable (not sure if that's even a word !)
Burton's collection seemed to be inspired by tribal Africa with some references, including the shoes, to Roman gladiators. The clothes were beautifully beaded armour with feather and hairy add ons. The lines were linear and boxy with some fuller skirts being the exception. This structure gave it a futuristic edge, along with the sleek rounded helmets.
When I think of McQueen, I usually think English classic, with a twist. I think structured jackets with Victorian reserve. However, although the structure remains, this is a new direction for McQueen. I would have never imagined them ever doing tribal. The colours and effortless combination of themes makes me excited for the future of this label.
What do you think of this collection ?

Check out this video from style.com for more on this collection

That's all for now,

When I think of the word patent, it immediately stirs up an image of trying on much too big school shoes in the later summer months of my childhood. I remember pleading with my mother to get the patent version of the buckled Mary Janes with a grown-up half inch heel. Although Mum sided with it's boring matte version of a cousin and reasoned about scuff marks and playground unruliness, I merely blocked out her voice to imagine the adventures I was going to have with my shiny new friends.
Patent is a trend that is back this season, a step forward from previous leather obsessed trends. Whether patent leather, Vinyl, PVC  or PU it has been fashioned into bags, skirts, shoes and even coats. I am a huge fan of the colour versions. I usually am quite safe and go for black, when it comes to a trend as fleeting as this, but I would like to invest in a colour piece that can be used as statement piece.
I am loving the patent coats, especially the red version from TOPSHOP and also their black shift dress and cobalt blue skirt. ASOS have done a great peplum version in nude and black dress trimmed with faux fur !
I have put together some of my favourite patent items above, so you can shop your little hearts out.
What are you opinions on the patent trend?

That's all from me,
