Travel Diary: Marrakech part three

Hi all !
So here is part three of the Marrakech Travel Diary. Most of these pictures are from our visit to Jardin de Majorelle, with the monument dedicated to Yves Saint Laurent.
We headed to the gardens in the morning, where the skyscraper palms and jungle like greenery offered some much need shade. What struck me first about the garden were the colours. Strong blues, yellows and greens dominated and combined with some unusual dessert flowers and cactus's added a cool edgy vibe to the place.
The gardens were bought by Yves Saint Laurent and Pierre Bergé in 1980 and restored by them They were originally owned by the painter Jacques Majorelle, who settled in Marrakech in 1916, and acquired the land which would become the Majorelle garden. In 1947 Jacques Majorelle opened the garden to the public, but following a car accident, he returned to France, where he died in 1962.
After the gardens we went to Le Grande Cafe de la Poste, where we enjoyed a more European style lunch. I loved the design of the place, which was more colonial french, circa 1920's. We came back again here for dinner and pre-dinner drinks, later in the week.
