The 69th Annual Golden Globes, often considered a prelude to the Oscars, saw Hollywood's Stars don their designer duds for a night of awards and glamour. Being one of the first major red-carpet events of the year, the 2012 awards gave us an insight into the trends ahead and a taste of whats to come for the Oscars.
Honestly I couldn't tell you who got which award, nevermind who was nominated. I am more interested in who wore what. I have put together some of my favourite looks along with possible trends for the year ahead.
Favourites for me included Zooey Deschanel dressed in a two-tone Prada gown, teamed with specially painted tuxedo nails. I love Zooey, she always owns her look by adding quirky touches.
Girl of the moment Rooney Mara, playing lead role in The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, looked stunning in a gothic Nina Ricci dress. She cleaned up well considering the transformation she had to do for the film role. Her hair, still jet black, was slicked back into a ponytail, letting her dress shine. I am thankful she didn't get too accustomed to those piercings required for the role, not very Nina. I predict that we will be seeing a lot more of Miss Mara in 2012 both on the big screen and in the fashion world.
Natalie Portman stole the show in an elegant, red and pink dress by Lanvin. She reminded me of Audrey Hepburn in her red strapless dress in Funny Face.
Blue and Neutral colours were big on the night with Hedi Klum pairing her neutral Calvin Klein dress with a pop of colour, turquoise necklace. However she took second place for best accessory with Angelina Jolie, in Atelier Versace, having the best accessory of them all...Brad Pitt, in Salvatore Ferragamo, of course.
Both Salma Hayak and Evan Rachel Wood had specially created Gucci for the evening while Emma Stone opted for two- tone Lanvin and Claire Danes did J.Mendel.
Diasters of the night included Madonna in Reem Acra, paired with a heavy black cross, Lea Michele in a show stopping Marchesa dress (it's just a shame she couldn't pull it off) and I am still undecided on Tilda Swinton's Haider Ackerman's powder blue. suit/dress....
Let me know your thoughts on the Golden Globes 2012 style. who did you rate and who did you hate? Did I leave anyone out?
Thats all for now,
