Aztec Sunset

Here is an outfit post from Christmas day. After a BIG dinner with Lorenzo's family, for my first Christmas away from home, we stopped off at Kings Park to watch the sunset. One of my favourite places in Perth, it gives such a beautiful view of an ever expanding city.
Here I am wearing a colourful Aztec print dress I picked up for 16 dollars on sale. It was perfect for the hot weather and comfortable too. I paired it with an old feather necklace from H&M, a tan belt from one of my CUE dresses and woven gold clutch Lorenzo gave me as a gift last summer. My Primark red wedges have made an appearance again. I love these babies, I always get compliments on them and oohs at their staggering height. They have a good thick heel so I feel secure in them.

 Let me know your comments,
Love xx

Jean Paul Gaultier S/S Haute Couture 2012 collection inspired by late Amy Winehouse

Fashion goers were in for a bit of  a surprise at the Jean Paul Gaultier Spring/Summer Haute Couture collection for 2012. The always innnovative and creative Gaultier had drawn inspiration from none other than the late soul songtress Amy Winehouse.
Models strutted down the runway with disheveled bee-hive hair do's and lashings of thick, black eyeliner. They snarled and smoked their way down the catwalk in spectacluar bold shades including hues of yellows, greens and blues. Gaultier's signature bustier got a new look taking inspiration from Winehouse's provocative, bra revealing ensembles. The clothes were beautifully cut with sexy lines luring the eye to exposed skin.
Winehouse's father has since criticized the show, saying her family was not informed of the show and it was somewhat insenstive considering it only being six months since the death of the star.
Personally I am a fan of the collection. To me it is classic Gaultier, fashion with a sense of irony and humour. I think Amy would have revelled at the thought of being such an inspiration. It leaves us with a good memory of her, reminding us of that unfailing indviduality we all loved so much.
Let me know your thoughts on the collection? Amy Winehouse a style inspiration? or a star best forgotten?

The Karl Collection

Collection Releas Paris

IPad 2 users London (photo courtesy of Grazia Magazine)

Karl Lagerfeld. This name is well known to even those not into the fashion scene. His public persona is almost as famous as his designer profile. He is an artist, photographer, fashion designer and even after 8 decades, couture collections, two RTW lines and a publishing house his creative well of a mind has still not ceased to dry up!
He has been designing for Chanel longer than Coco herself did and has also set trends at Charles Jourdan, Valentino, Fendi and Chloe.
His latest collection, a lower priced range of clothing based on his own style staple of black and white basics, is in collaboration with the website NET-A-PORTER and has been filling my inbox with countless emails on the countdown. However the day has finally arrived and the collection was released on the 25th of this month with huge openings in Paris (Karl himself was present) New York, London, Berlin and Sydney.
Lagerfeld has always been in the know, keeping up with the fast paced technology obsessed youth of today. Pop-up windows in such key locations allowed Karl lovers to link up there iPad 2s and IPhones with the NET-A-PORTER KARL app by scanning products appearing on screen.
Finally there is the opportunity to own a bit of Karl in your life ( at bargain prices too!)
The collection is based on Karl's own signature style of black and white basics, with some metallic pieces and a Rock and Roll edge.
You can now get your hands on some tres chic biker gloves, (very Lagerfeld) or perhaps a leather collar is the way to go to pay tribute  to such a genius. I have had my eye on the faux leather pleated skirt and t-shirts with personally drawn designs by Karl. However many things have sold out with the smaller sizes in t-shirts being non-exsistent :( However I hope they get more in so I can grab one !
Thats all for now,
Let me know your thoughts,
XXXX

Rottnest Weekend Trip

Here are some snaps from a recent weekend trip to Rottnest Island. I finally managed to get a Saturday off work to enjoy the beautiful beaches and landscape of this little treasure. Me and Lorenzo hired bikes to get around the island as there are no cars. We spent our days exploring and our night at the open air beach bar with live music. It was such a relaxing weekend and I hope to go back soon!
My outfit post is from one of the nights. I kept it easy with my favourtie white t-shirt and paired it with my new pleated pink/coral skirt from Forever New along with my leopard, calf hair belt from Veronika Maine. I got this belt to go with my long orange maxi dress I wore to the wedding in Croatia. Still haven't tried it out yet.
Thats all for now,
Let me know your thoughts,
I always love to hear your comments,

Fashion at the Golden Globes 2012

Charlize Theron in Dior and Jessica Biel in Elie Saab

The 69th Annual Golden Globes, often considered a prelude to the Oscars, saw Hollywood's Stars don their designer duds for a night of awards and glamour. Being one of the first major red-carpet events of the year, the 2012 awards gave us an insight into the trends ahead and a taste of whats to come for the Oscars.
Honestly I couldn't tell you who got which award, nevermind who was nominated. I am more interested in who wore what. I have put together some of my favourite looks along with possible trends for the year ahead.
Favourites for me included Zooey Deschanel dressed in a two-tone Prada gown, teamed with specially painted tuxedo nails. I love Zooey, she always owns her look by adding quirky touches.
Girl of the moment Rooney Mara, playing lead role in The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, looked stunning in a gothic Nina Ricci dress. She cleaned up well considering the transformation she had to do for the film role. Her hair, still jet black, was slicked back into a ponytail, letting her dress shine. I am thankful she didn't get too accustomed to those piercings required for the role, not very Nina. I predict that we will be seeing a lot more of Miss Mara in 2012 both on the big screen and in the fashion world.
Natalie Portman stole the show in an elegant, red and pink dress by Lanvin. She reminded me of Audrey Hepburn in her red strapless dress in Funny Face.
Blue and Neutral colours were big on the night with Hedi Klum pairing her neutral Calvin Klein dress with a pop of colour, turquoise necklace. However she took second place for best accessory with Angelina Jolie, in Atelier Versace, having the best accessory of them all...Brad Pitt, in Salvatore Ferragamo, of course.
Both Salma Hayak and Evan Rachel Wood had specially created Gucci for the evening while Emma Stone opted for two- tone Lanvin and Claire Danes did J.Mendel.
Diasters of the night included Madonna in Reem Acra, paired with a heavy black cross, Lea Michele in a show stopping Marchesa dress (it's just a shame she couldn't pull it off)  and I am still undecided on Tilda Swinton's Haider Ackerman's powder blue. suit/dress....
Let me know your thoughts on the Golden Globes 2012 style. who did you rate and who did you hate? Did I leave anyone out?
Thats all for now,
xx

Happy New Year Everyone

Happy New Year everyone. Here are some photos from a recent trip taken to York, Western Australia, along with my new year resolution to post more and keep writing.
My outfit was inspired by trip to York, a town in the middle of nowhere at the end of some beautiful, dusty red roads. I was thinking middle America with my knoted denim shirt, stripey skirt and weaved red wedges. I nabbed these babies last summer for only 9 euros in the Primark sale. Although not the most comfortable they are really light.
Let me know your thoughts and you can hype me on lookbook by clicking here.
Ciao for now,
Love Dani xx
