Jean Paul Gaultier S/S Haute Couture 2012 collection inspired by late Amy Winehouse

Fashion goers were in for a bit of  a surprise at the Jean Paul Gaultier Spring/Summer Haute Couture collection for 2012. The always innnovative and creative Gaultier had drawn inspiration from none other than the late soul songtress Amy Winehouse.
Models strutted down the runway with disheveled bee-hive hair do's and lashings of thick, black eyeliner. They snarled and smoked their way down the catwalk in spectacluar bold shades including hues of yellows, greens and blues. Gaultier's signature bustier got a new look taking inspiration from Winehouse's provocative, bra revealing ensembles. The clothes were beautifully cut with sexy lines luring the eye to exposed skin.
Winehouse's father has since criticized the show, saying her family was not informed of the show and it was somewhat insenstive considering it only being six months since the death of the star.
Personally I am a fan of the collection. To me it is classic Gaultier, fashion with a sense of irony and humour. I think Amy would have revelled at the thought of being such an inspiration. It leaves us with a good memory of her, reminding us of that unfailing indviduality we all loved so much.
Let me know your thoughts on the collection? Amy Winehouse a style inspiration? or a star best forgotten?
