Shoe In

How do you dress for success? Do you dress for the job you want or the job you have? Are your shoes made for walking or climbing the ladder of success? Well, you know upward mobility is always on the mind of an avid blogger. This week we take the plunge into Spring and Summer trends, but not in the way of dressing down but more buttoning up. Does that mean we have work on the mind? Maybe. You'll just have to see for yourself.

Born to be Styled

You know how it is, every season there's something new to get into... new trends, new styles, keeping up appearances. As I get older, I notice how some things come cycle in and out, and how some things stay with us season after season. That biker jacket, that classic black and white ensemble, that perfect suit. It's just a matter of finding that thing that resonates with you and your life year after year. We all have our fleeting musings, but what really strikes our fancy time after time? That's what I call style.

Fashion Kaleidoscope

Style is made of so many pieces it's hard to focus on just one element. The beauty is the collective whole of random bits and pieces from our lives makes for an abstract pattern. What? Ok, maybe that's a bit philosophical, then again, so are a couple of the posts in this week's roundup. From a close look at Emilio Pucci's outrageous prints, to dissecting the underrepresentation of lesbians in the fashion world, and decoding childhood memories influence on design, there's a lot to look at even more closely than whether or not an outfit works.

Love, Life & The Latest Thing

This week NYFW hit the runways strutting everything we'll be coveting over the next six months, but it's also a time to think about love as Valentine's Day closes out the week. Will you be celebrating? Some will, others will roll their eyes, but either way, it's certainly fun to think about what we'll be wearing.

Stepping Up the Style

The thing that keeps fashion interesting is that it's a never-ending project. But that doesn't mean we don't like to strive for perfection anyway. Whether it be following your favorite fashion icons, saying no to the trends, or breaking cliches, style can always be stepped up even when we simplify our wardrobes. This week we have a solid round up of style related posts, so be sure to check them all out!

Links à la Mode June 20th: Hunting in Heels is featured !

My post on Audrey Hepburn as Holly Golightly and how to sleep in style got picked as one of last week's best 20 blog posts.
I love reading the posts selected every week and I am always excited to be chosen. My main reason for loving the Links a la Mode, is the fact it concentrates on good writing and interest content, which is some times easily lost amoung the outfit posts of moody faces and exotic locations.
It encourages me to be a better writer, especially when I get feedback.
So check out the other links and join ifb, if you haven't already !

The Nostalgia of Summer

It's been a long time since I've edited LaLM, but it's how I began my time as an IFB contributor. It seems appropriate to return during the summer because it's always been the season for nostalgia. It doesn't help that I turn 30 this summer, something I look forward to with a great, child-like enthusiasm. It also makes me think about the last 10 years of my life, where I've gone, and how far I've come. Somewhere in the heart of these posts is a sense of nostalgia they bring out in me. Whether it's the childlike enthusiasm over nails that resemble a sprinkled ice cream cone and reminiscing about my first time watching Breakfast at Tiffany's or thinking about high-school physics with fashion, how I got out of credit card debt, or the changing tide of the blogosphere, I hope these posts stir a bit of nostalgia in you, too. (Or at least inspire you to start rewatching The Nanny on Netflix.) Or, as The In Club asks, maybe we're just too damned nostalgic.

Links a la Mode: May 9th

Hi everyone !

Check out this weeks Links a la Mode ! Hunting in Heels was chosen as one of the best posts for my piece on Designer Uniforms !
I am really happy, as I always check out the post selected here every week. It is a great place to make blogging friends and find some great new blogs. Another reason is because it really encourages the idea of writing, rather than just posting looks, where even some of the biggest bloggers fail. I know I prefer having something witty to read along with great pictures !
Anyways check out the others who were selected below, and if your a blogger join up to IFB now !!

Gift of Glamour

With all the dazzle of this week's Met Gala and the upcoming excitement of the Great Gatsby, this summer is going to be all about glam. Between dressing up, dazzling flapper beading, maxi dresses, it's a sure hit to doll it up during the most casual of months. This week's roundup has just about everything you need to know about looking fabulous, how to find the best deals in most unexpected places and how to shop on the go (without even going into a store.) That's just what we need to get some more outdoor time.

Links à la Mode: May 9th

That's all for now,
Love Dani xx

Spice Girls

Edited by: Jess of Fresh Jess

This week, the Spice Girls got together to announce their support for the upcoming musical Viva Forever, which is inspired by their Girl Power movement. The fearless, limitless supergroup has come so far since they burst onto the scene 16 years ago. They’ve inspired millions of girls around the world to go after their dreams, and paved the way for bloggers like you and I to share our individual styles and passions with the world. My picks this week reflect how IFBers are spicing up their life this summer. From Beetlejuice and the streets of Tokyo to the bright colors and light fabrics of the season, the variety of style expression has never looked so good. Even Victoria Beckham would be proud!
